Privacy policy
Culltag (“we,” “us”) is a small platform run by one person out of Maine. This policy covers how culltag.com collects, uses, and protects information from anglers, tournament directors, and clubs that use the platform.
What we collect
- Account info. Email address (for sign-in), display name, optional profile fields you provide.
- Sign-in. Passwordless — we email you a one-time link. We don’t store passwords and don’t support Google / Facebook / Apple sign-in.
- Tournament sign-up info. Names of anglers on a team, phone numbers, optional emails, boat registration number, insurance details (if your director requires them), and waiver acknowledgments.
- Tournament-day info. Check-in timestamps, weigh-in / catch records, results.
- Operational logs. An append-only audit log of changes (who edited what, when) for tournament-data integrity.
How we use it
- To run the tournament you signed up for — pairing teams, assigning boat numbers, recording catches, posting results.
- To send you operational messages by email or SMS about the tournament you signed up for (start time, blastoff order, weather changes, results posted).
- To allow tournament directors to manage their event roster and communicate with their teams.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers. We do not use your data for marketing of unrelated products.
What’s public by default
Some data ends up on pages anyone can view — that’s how tournament results work. The public surface is narrow on purpose:
- Your display name, boat number, and culltag appear on tournament rosters, blast-off lists, weigh-in tables, and final results.
- Tournament details: name, lake, date, region, format, entry fee.
- If you turn on profile sharing at
/account, your career stats become visible at/id/<your-tag>. Off by default.
What’s never public, even from your own profile: your email, your phone, your address, your boat registration, your insurance, your emergency contact.
SMS messaging program (text-message disclosure)
Program: Culltag tournament communications. Brand: Culltag.
Consent (opt-in). When you register for a tournament at
culltag.com/t/<tournament-slug>/register, the sign-up form
includes an SMS notice immediately above the submit button. By submitting that form
with a phone number, you consent to receive SMS messages from Culltag related to
the specific tournament you signed up for. Tournament directors who add walk-up
sign-ups on the day of the event capture the same consent verbally — they
read the SMS notice to you out loud and ask before recording your phone number.
There’s no written record of that verbal consent; the director honors
opt-outs the same way.
Message types. All SMS messages are operational (transactional) — not marketing. Examples:
- “Boats on the water 6 AM Saturday at Moose Pond. Boat numbers posted at culltag.com/t/<slug>/registered.”
- “Weather update: thunderstorms forecast 9 AM-noon. Start delayed 1 hour.”
- “Results posted: culltag.com/t/<slug>/results”
Frequency. Bursty around tournament day — typically 1-5 messages from the day before through the day after the event. No regular cadence.
Rates. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier plan.
Opt-out. Reply STOP to any message at any time to unsubscribe immediately. The system honors STOP automatically. Reply HELP for the tournament director’s contact information.
Privacy of phone numbers. Phone numbers collected at sign-up are visible only to the tournament director, weigh-master, check-in staff, and platform admin. They are never displayed on public tournament pages and are never shared with third parties except the SMS delivery provider (Twilio) for the sole purpose of delivering the operational messages above.
Tournament-related email is sent from info@culltag.com with replies
directed to the tournament director. As with SMS, email is operational (no marketing)
and is sent only to anglers who provided an email address when registering.
Data retention
Your account and registration data stays while you use the platform. To delete it, email info@culltag.com. We remove your personal contact info (email, phone, address, boat reg, insurance, emergency contact) within 30 days. Your culltag is freed back into the namespace. Tournament results and finishing places stay in the historical record — they’re the point of the event you fished — but your name on those past rosters is replaced with your culltag alone.
Security
Data is stored in Supabase (Postgres) with row-level security enforcing access controls per role (angler / director / club admin / platform admin). The site is served exclusively over HTTPS via Cloudflare.
Children
Culltag is not directed at children under 13. If a minor registers for a tournament, a parent or guardian should provide consent and contact information.
Changes
We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
